Tips On Looking For A Good Facility For Your Loved One

We often get requests to help people with choosing a care facility. This is not something we have every felt very comfortable doing because we have made claims against so many. Here is an important article by John Ingold that just appeared in the Colorado Sun discussing this problem of choosing the right facility for your loved one. It contains a number of good suggestions for researching individual facilities you are considering including discussing facilities to avoid that are on a Medicare/Medicaid list that is called SFF, Special Focus Facilities. These are facilities that have pronounced and repetitious deficiency histories. The article gives links to additional resources that you may find helpful: https://coloradosun.com/2019/07/05/colorado-nursing-homes-safety-list/?mc_cid=394ced2bed&mc_eid=dc983d93d3

You can also go to the Colorado Department of Health to look up the occurrence, complaint and survey history of any nursing home or assisted living facility you are considering. Here is a link to the CDPHE’s facility search portal: http://www.hfemsd2.dphe.state.co.us/hfd2003/facfind.aspx
